It’s a noble idea since dehydration is prevalent with both adults and children in Africa especially with cholera and other water borne diseases.
Nepal had initiated diarrhea treatment with Zinc and ORS since 2006 and nation wide expanded on 2010 and treatment has been revised accordingly, still not practicing of co- packaging.
If packaging together it will be helpful to teh dreug retailers for distribution and mother/care takers to treat their children together with Zinc and ORS.
We will start for advocacy with the Government and manufacture companies for packaging of Zinc and ORS together.
It would be great if you could complete the ORS/Zinc status questionnaire for Nepal. It only takes about 10 minutes. It can be accessed here: orszco-pack.org/questionnaire
Thanks
It will help for compliance of Zinc to take complete dose even after diarrhea cured.
You are right to point this out. Compliance to the recommendation that Zinc is taken for 10 to 14 days is a challenge. Work in Zambia showed a tendency for caregivers to stop giving Zinc once the diarrhoea stopped. Please see http://www.colalife.org/2014/01/30/designing-for-better-zinc-adherence/.
Hi Simon,
I teach Social Enterprise at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and use your film for a case discussion in class. It used to be available on Vimeo, but it is gone 🙁
Is there a way to get access for my class?
Thank you!
Best, David
