Positioning Statement |
|
For: |
Organisations and individuals committed to accelerating uptake of CO-PACKAGED ORS and Zinc in the countries where there is a high incidence of childhood diarrhoea. |
Who want: |
To permanently reduce diarrhoea deaths and malnutrition among children in high incidence countries. |
The ORS/Zinc CO-PACK Alliance (ORSZCA) is: |
A global peer-to-peer alliance identifying and breaking down the barriers to wide uptake of the ORS and Zinc CO-PACK in the countries with a high incidence of diarrhoea. The only international network advocating for the new recommendation (WHO Essential Medicines List 2019) that diarrhoea in children should be treated with CO-PACKAGED ORS and Zinc. Formed around a single vision to make CO-PACKAGED ORS and Zinc the “go-to” treatment of child diarrhoea in high incidence countries. |
That provides: |
A sharply focussed “call to action,” “assembly point” and “playbook” to accelerate uptake of the new global CO-PACK recommendation (WHO Essential Medicines List 2019) by international, regional, national, and sub-national health authorities the private sector and public/private partnerships. |
Unlike: |
Non-action-orientated networks. Networks hosted by, or formed around, a large organisation or funding opportunity. ORSZCA is formed around a mission. |
ORSZCA: |
Will make the ORS and Zinc CO-PACK the “go-to” treatment for diarrhoea in children in high incidence countries. |
